30 September 2011: The founder of charity Teach a Man to Fish, Nik Kafka, has recently brought back some really beautiful leather bags from Panama and is selling them to fund Teach a Man to Fish’s charitable activities. These beautiful bags, called Chaquena bags, are available on ASOS marketplace. (Details at the bottom of the post.)
“Handcrafted from beautiful Paraguayan leather with unique artwork from the country’s Chaco region. For centuries, cattle and leather have been the lifeblood of Paraguay, known as “El Corazon” or the heart of South America. Paraguayans take their leather seriously; you’ll find world class leather everywhere from village markets to high fashion boutiques. As if pure quality wasn’t enough, Paraguayans embellish their leather with patterns derived from the art of the Guarani, Paraguay’s indigenous community.”
“Teach a Man to Fish’s mission is to change the world through changing education in the developing countries. We work to empower independence, dignity and sustainability of young people from poor families, living in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Basically, we want to spread a model of financially self-sustainable schools so that they can rely on their own activities for income.”

16 Jan 2011 I may not have started baking babies, but most of my girlfriends have infants, and the attendant piles of stuff that goes along with rearing them. I did a quick poll (well, I asked Tara [celebrity booker & TV producer] & Ayla [Music industry Very VIP], my two most simultaneously chic, grown-up and practical baby wranglers) whether this new baby bag from Storksak was the kind of thing a mama would like (style over substance or clever melding of the two?), and they were resoundingly positive.
Tara says, “I like because it’s nylon which is practical. And it’s not covered with cutsey baby insignia like bottles & teddy bears!” and Ayla commented: ” I actually own a Storksak changing bag which is very stylish & super practical too. Thumbs up from me.”
Made from satin nylon, it comes in Black and Moss. It features two large outer pockets including a front zipper pocket, thermo-insulated bottle pocket, padded changing mat and detachable inner sak. It also boasts an adjustable shoulder strap and wipe clean linings throughout. As recommended by Ayla & Tara.

10 Jan 2011: ooh hoo Uniqlo have just started doing shapewear! Launched today, this is Uniqlo’s first foray into the suck-it-in market, and it’s looking good. Available in purple (below), black or beige, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than Spanx.
This is the Body Shaper Camisole(Seamless) £7.99, worn over the shorts (below)
There aren’t enough shapewear pieces out there with sleeves, so props to Uniqlo for adding some. Body Shaper U-Neck T-Shirt £19/99
Body Shaper Shorts(Seamless) £7.99£19.99
The obvious problem with most shapewear is that peeling off a bandage-coloured girdle before a night of passion is not the most alluring of actions. Whilst you are still going to have to peel this lot off, at least the purple looks less like a surgical truss.…

07 Jan 2011. I do love scarves, and legendary London boutique Browns have a particularly lovely selection, including this ravishing silk number from Erdem:
Erdem ‘Deneuve’ print scarf — £265.00(Delivery outside the EU is £25, but you do get 20% VATax refunded)

06 Jan 2011: I adore Bloch ballet shoes. “Originally launched in Sydney by Jacob Bloch in 1932 as a technical dance footwear company, Bloch’s speciality was in handmade pointe shoes for the world’s most esteemed ballet dancers. The company has since blossomed into a fashion-forward contemporary label excelling in beautifully constructed banana flat”, and Netaporter just happens to have all these (& more) for 30–40% off in the sale. _____________________________________________________________
I know it’s the middle of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, but for those in Australia or heading off for some winter sun, may I suggest this lovely coral Vanessa Bruno bag? Want. 01 Jan 2011: Erickson Beamon have always been one of my favourite costume (& fine) jewellery designers, and I like their diffusion ranges for British department store Debenhams (I loved the capsule collection they did for Target in the US in 2009 too.). I’m not going to pretend that by buying this you are going to get anything even vaguely comensurate to their mainline collection, but for the price point (several zeros less than normal), it’s pretty good. (And they deliver to Europe for £7 & the US for £10
There’s this pretty black flower & bead necklace for £10.20 in the sale.
Set of three gold coloured ball & mesh bangles for £5.10 in the sale
Gold coloured filigree disc earrings £5,44 in the sale
Gold coloured beaded hoop earrings £3.44 in the sale

Everyone’s talking about brogues this season, and these are some of the best I’ve seen from, surprisingly, Lands’ End Canvas. There are plenty of brogues around but the leather isn’t great — and this is.
Black leather Lands’ End Canvas Women’s Wingtip Shoes £89

I am completely smitten, smitten I tell you by these Autograph Pure Cashmere Fingerless Gloves at a properlybargainous £19.50 a pair.
And there are even more colours on the website. I like the ides of a pop of pink amongst my monochrome wardrobe, and the dark grey ones are perfect everyday wear. (More colours available.) S’funny, as I had been intending to write about this winter’s thing for fingerless gloves, even before my sister pointed this out this evening. Yesterday on the tube I spotted five people in my carriage section alone wearing various versions of fingerless gloves. Oh and M&S deliver internationally to over 5o countries. More info here.

I WANT this black suede hat with mouse ears from Maison Michel, currently a wallet crushing £445 at Browns.

This season’s look is all about the kitten heel. Although I love the sexy, leg-lengthening look of a high heel, there’s a lot to be said for a heel in which you can run for a bus. I’m rather liking this patent shoe from LK Bennett
Salut 2 Court Shoe from L K Bennett £130 _______________________________________________________________________
I’m always looking for good flat leather boots. I bought my perfect pair from LK Bennett of all places in 2004 when I went to Austria to work for Swarovski, and needed warm, sensible footwear. Although I had always lusted after Belstaff boots, wanting the echt motorcycle boot, my calves are far too stick-like, and they just look like wellies on me. So, I have to buy ‘fashion’ boots…I like them as simple as possible, so bells or whistles, and these ones from Boden are as simple as they come.
Casual Leather Boots £179.00 (They are also available in aubergine, blue & camel.) __________________________________________________________________________ Some great weekend tights from the Gap:
Jacquard opaque tights £8 ______________________________________________________________________
I have a massive thing for big chunky cuffs, especially with one worn on each wrist. This French Connection gold-effect cuff is perfect. I’ll take two…£20 each
I do like a little bit of leopard…thank you Kurt Geiger for the perfect mid-heel, new season shoe. The Erica £210.00#
