I do love a capsule holiday look – I always pack everything in navy and white, with the odd bit of pink and orange as an accent, – like these Christopher Kane sunglasses, but it’s so much easier if everything just automatically matches. The last thing that I want to be doing on holiday is thinking about what to wear.
I shot this photo in Portugal earlier this week by the pool and was grateful that I’d packed everything here. The swimsuit is from Marks & Spencer’s Secret Slimming range so it holds my tum in, and is extremely flattering. It’s also a great price – £29.50.
I swear by the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine Tinted Sun Cream Gel because it covers up my rosacea flush so I don’t have to feel self conscious about my red cheeks. (I do not want to be wearing foundation by the pool or on the beach.) It’s such a hero product that I use it in London too in hot weather.

I’ll write more about these later, but waterproof MP3 players have changed my swimming life as I get so bored swimming lengths. These aren’t expensive (£28.99) and are the best ones I’ve bought so far – and believe me, I’ve tried most of them. I download podcasts and swim much further as a result.

The White Company sent me the seagrass bag just before I left for the Algarve and it is just brilliant. Often the problem with straw bags is that the handles aren’t sturdy enough but I carried my laptop around in this, along with all my other poolside supplies and it showed no signs of splitting whatsoever.
Metal S’well bottles are super clever – they keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot but without the traditional (and very smashable) glass lining of vacuum flasks. It ensures that I always have ice cold water by the pool.

I really do think you cannot go wrong with navy and white – at any time! I am going to check out this swimsuit: I had seen one of a similar shape, but as this one is more than half the price, it is a winner already!
