Above right: the Clinique + Jonathan Adler  Limited Edition Chic Colour Kit

If you’ve spent any time in Manhattan, then you’ll know all about artist, potter, sculptor and designer Jonathan Adler, who  lives in New York City with his partner, Barneys Creative Ambassador at Large Simon Doonan, and their rescue mutt Foxylady.

His beautiful stores (do check out the one in the West Village near my old apartment if you’re in the city. or the one in Notting Hill if in London) are dedicated, as he would put it, to bringing “Modern American Glamour to your life“. And don’t think that his caps are a mistake: The Adler style is all about making a statement; he loves colour, wit and fun and his polymath streak has led to more  than 25 Jonathan Adler stores worldwide, a thriving e-commerce site, and a wholesale business boasting over 1,000 locations globally.

So now, in addition to his home accessories – which include decorative objects, tabletop collections, bath accessories, candles, furniture, rugs, pillows, lighting and more, he can count fabulous packaging for cosmetics via this vibrant collection for Clinique.

Inspired by some of his favourite travel destinations (Capri, Palm Beach and Santorini), and featuring Adler’s iconic geometric patterns, he wanted the collection to feel like a vacation. As he puts it: “It’s crisp, it’s colourful, it’s luminous, it’s bright and it’s like a little getaway to the most glamorous place you’ve ever imagined.”

The thing that really stuck me about the collection was the breadth of Adler’s inspirations. Take the Clinique + Jonathan Adler Pop Lip Colour + Primer, which was inspired by Jonathan’s Globo Collection, which feature
colourful domes of acrylic and brass.

Each Clinique lip colour features an acrylic cabochon atop the cap and Jonathan’s signature geometric pattern etched around the tube, and the range includes three limited edition colours that have been inspired by, yes, you got it, Capri, Palm Beach and Santorini, whilst the Lid Pop and the Cheek Pop are inspired by French gardens and feature exclusive Jonathan Adler geometric patterns on the lids and imprinted into the powder.

And this must be, hands down, the most glamorous ever facial brush: the Clinique + Jonathan Adler Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush with a limited-edition geometric printed brush and matching travel case.

Available at from 7 July 2017 and nationwide from 18 August 2017.
