Regents park may 2017 sunshine - 2

Weather – we Londoners really do like to talk about the weather. Sometimes  (most of the time) we really are interested in it, other times we are using it as a code. Maybe we can’t think of anything else to say, perhaps we need to fill in a blank space in the conversation or, sometimes, it’s because what we really want to say is: I’m scared, I’m horrified, I’m shocked but I can’t have this conversation right now because I’m going to break down, so I’m going to talk to you about the weather.

So: the weather.

London is beautiful in all climates, but these heady, hot late May and early June days are so often the best days of the summer. I’ve been walking the dogs at all hours, enjoying the warm evenings as much as the hot days. And, even, when it rains, it’s been refreshing with petrichor rising in the air afterwards.

My mother has been in town quite a lot lately, staying with my sister, and hanging out with me. One Saturday we ate at the local Cote in Camden (she wanted a steak, I had whatever was vegetarian on the menu), and the next day her dogs came to hang out in my back garden in the sunshine whilst she went to a birthday lunch party.

Later that day I dragged the dog squad up to Hampstead Heath for a brisk walk under the astonishingly blue skies.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of the Heath. Here in New Zealand I needed another image in my mind at the moment of my favourite city.

There is so much eloquence and peace in that green. Beautiful evocation of spirit 🙂 x ( from a far-away so-close Australian ex-Londoner)

I love these relaxing days, going for a walk in the park and enjoying the sun and family. As an ‘adopted’ Londoner I’ve learned to enjoy these rare sunny days as much as I can! 🙂
