Wacoal Embrace Lace Soft Bra, Black

This, my friends, is one of my new bras. I cried when I opened the package from a thoughtful PR and discovered a bag of the prettiest, laciest, non-parachute harness bras I had ever seen. I never thought I could be the girl who would wear pretty bras. Everything in my underwear drawer had enough underwire in it to set off an airport metal detector, and you could comfortably house a family of hamsters in each cup.

I started 2015 as a 32JJ, and ended it as a neat 34D. The operation was something I had considered for years, lightly since my late twenties, and seriously for the past five years or so. A year down the line from the operation I can truthfully say that it is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My friends over at The Pool published the story of the journey towards my decision in April, almost a year to the day of the surgery, and you can read the piece here.

Meanwhile, here at LLG, over the next week or so, we will be running a series of wellness stories – call it Week of Wellness, stemming from this decision, from my no-holds-barred guide to breast reduction surgery (4000 words!), to reviews of health-centred resorts, boot camps, dermatologists, and post-exercise treatments.

I’m kicking off with the above mentioned surgery guide, and you can click through to read it here.

Bra, above, a gift from Wacoal, and available here.

I’m so happy for you. Enjoy being comfortable in your body…I know women with large breasts who have suffered for years – physically – and mentally – from the genetic hand they were dealt. When they had surgery, the back and neck pain ceased. They had a new lease on life. Please don’t judge yourself – anyone with chronic back pain – again, not life threatening – would consider a surgical option.

Hi Sasha. I cannot thank you enough for all the information . I am about to embark on the same op (may 30) . I get cold feet regularly , but am committed now. It too has taken me 4 years to save for this and I am 62!! All the same problems over the years and the unwanted attention having large boobs brings. So… Adam Blackburn is my surgeon (new victoria hospital) he comes from a recommendation. So very charming and gave me such confidence.
You have answered so many of my , what I call , girly questions, , plus so many items to make life, post op ,easier. I will be buying them all.
I am fairly anxious but if I didn’t do it now then going forward the back pain isn’t worth thinking about.
So, a big , huge THANK YOU Sasha.
Plus.. glad to see your support for The Dogs Trust . Such a great charity.
