I do love an afternoon tea, and this one was particularly delightful: during May the Harrods Floral Afternoon Tea sits alongside their ‘Harrods British Eccentrics Garden at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The garden, which has been designed and created by award-winning gardener Diarmuid Gavin, and inspired by kinetic sculpture from some of the UK’s most imaginative minds, won a Silver Gilt medal this year.
My old university friend Liz and I went off to celebrate her birthday last Saturday by eating all of the cake in the Conservatory at The Georgian, which has been designed as a quintessential English garden for the duration of the tea.
The glorious cakes, all inspired by botanicals include lavender and peach macarons, jasmine and orange chocolate mousse, hibiscus and strawberry jellies with summer fruit, lemongrass yogurt mousse with white chocolate and thyme, and lemon madeleines.
There are all sorts of wonderful RHS Chelsea Flower Show themed events and products around this year. I particularly like the limited edition hand soap from Royal Warrant Holders Bronnley, who are the first brand to create an exclusive soap for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The soap is inspired by the natural aromas of RHS Gardens. A luxurious floral bouquet, triple milled soap with fresh top notes of tuberose, which give way to a flowery heart of jasmine and lily finally resting on a warm sweet base.
£6.99 for 100g soap or £15.99 for a set of 3 boxed soaps
