Fashion: Hobbs for the John Lewis 150th Anniversary

poppy chancellor Saturday was one of those perfect days where everything seemed in alignment. The sun was shining, my outfit worked, and I got to hang out with the wonderful papercut artist and illustrator Poppy Chancellor. We were both acting as brand ambassadors for Hobbs at John Lewis Oxford Street to help  Britain’s favourite department store celebrate its 150th anniversary. hobbs John lewis John Lewis approached Hobbs in early 2013 with a brief to create an anniversary collection to celebrate their 150th birthday. So Sandy Verdon, Hobbs Creative Director and Iain Ewing, John Lewis Head of Design for Womenswear & Accessories visited the John Lewis Heritage Centre in Cookham, Oxfordshire in August 2013. After looking through hundreds of prints, Sandy fell in love with two; a Batik butterfly print dating back to 1909 as well as a bold stripe print. The prints were then brought back to Hobbs in-house atelier, where they were reworked and interpreted into a 13 piece capsule collection. hobbs John lewis So on Saturday Poppy and I convened at John Lewis Oxford Street, both dressed head to toe in Hobbs. Poppy sat right in the middle of the Hobbs concession, where she paper-cut the intricate Batik butterfly print that peppers the anniversary collection, and we both had a wonderful time meeting and greeting John Lewis customers, and giving them Poppy’s beautiful bespoke butterfly greetings card for Hobbs. Look at my amazing shoes! There was a swing band playing live in store, and I was hard put not to start dancing. hobbs John lewis hobbs John lewis hobbs John lewis And then it was time to go meet some readers (thank you for the delicious chocolates Barbara!), turn our faces to the sun, and admire the views from the shiny new John Lewis roof terrace. hobbs John lewis And oh the view! hobbs John lewis hobbs John lewis hobbs John lewis STYLE NOTES: hobbs John lewis Hobbs Cream Michelle Coat, £299, Hobbs Mimi Bag, £199, Hobbs Flora Scarf in Tea Rose Pink, £49, Hobbs Silver Grey Dickenson Jean, £79, Hobbs Blue Evanna Cardigan, £65, Hobbs Rose Gold Carly Shoes, £149, Hobbs Beige Invitation Rachel Necklace, £99 The Hobbs capsule collection for John Lewis includes a selection of Hobbs key silhouettes including; the trench coat, silk topquilted jacket, brogues, silk shirt, and day dress, all featuring the custom-designed archive inspired butterfly print. I absolutely love your outfit! I have a similar coat from Oasis which has managed to keep me warm throughout a rather blustery Spring – but the Hobbs coat looks incredible with the print. I feel a little pre-birthday splurge coming on at Hobbs and John Lewis this season…

It all looks fabulous! So many of my favourite things in one place.
My last visit to London resulted in yet another wardrobe top-up from Hobbs/ NW3.
Most of my favourite pieces are from them. But now I’m pretty sure I also need those shoes!
