(Style notes at bottom of post.)

I’ve been all caught up with an external project over the past week, so I’m somewhat behind with blogging. When I looked at my iPhoto files, I realised there were a few things that had fallen through my daily net, so this is a little catch up post.

I’ve not really done any non-work socialising, bar my overnight trip to Cambridge, but I have managed to combine some work and play. This Thursday past I took Chloe to The Outnet‘s 5th birthday party at the ICA. Here she is resplendent in a Trina Turk jumpsuit she picked up from a vintage store in Palm Springs.

The week before Easter, I invited Brig to join me at the private view of Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs‎, at Tate Modern, which is now open, and runs until 07 September. We hopped off to Mayfair afterwards, for a quick supper at Little House.

I popped into the AW14 CHANEL press day. Milk carton handbag anyone?

There was a delicious work lunch at The Gilbert Scott in the St Pancras Hotel. I ordered a magnificent dish of white asparagus, Cheddar pancake, morels, and hazelnuts.  (The delicious spring menu is here.)

And on Maundy Thursday I spent the evening at IKEA, buying a stainless steel kitchen trolley, and a lot of plastic storage boxes. All glamour, all of the time. I somewhat overestimated the interior volume of my two seater. It took twenty minutes to work out how to get my purchases securely in the car. (That box is, I promise, firmly wedged in the folding roof, and behind the headrests.)

I spent the morning before I caught the train to Cambridge on Good Friday, de-flatpacking, and playing with my new storage. I do love having a place for everything.

The IKEA mission was counteracted by the arrival of the most glamorous Easter egg from Claridges.

Sunday through Wednesday was ALL about cooking for a project. Prepping, writing flow charts and shopping lists and a lot of washing up. My back and legs ached so much on Tuesday night  from standing up continuously for ten hours that I actually seized up when I got home. Ow ow ow.

Wednesday was powered by ibuprofen. And cake. F*ckloads of cake. That’s my triple layer lemon cake with fresh blackberry jam and blackberry Swiss meringue buttercream icing in progress…

There was flower prepping too. (It’s always best to buy  stems a few days in advance, strip and give them a good drink.)

I bought some English asparagus from Cambridge market, and ate it simply with melted butter and Maldon salt.

Thursday I had meetings and lunch with my agent, but my legs were so sore from cooking that I was a heel-free zone.

I still get a thrill from working in London. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world: Here’s the curve of Nash’s Regent’s Street.

A busy but beautiful week by the looks of it. Hope your legs have recovered now? Some great photos. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely compilation, as always.

My leg’s always ache SO much after doing my pop up restaurants, by the time the guests arrive I’m normally hobbling/sliding around the kitchen in my socks, interspersed with lying on my back trying to drain blood back out of my feet – so glam!!
