Dogs: Lunch with Ralph Lauren & Tatler in London

I don’t generally take Posetta Baddog to events, fashion or otherwise. She’s a dog, not an accessory, and would much rather be snuffling around Regent’s Park and chasing Alsatians than trotting down a runway, or dozing in a carrier on a gilt chair.

So bringing her along to Ralph Lauren and Tatler’s dogs and owners lunch at Hertford Street was a major exception to my rule: but the cause  – Battersea Dogs and Cats Home – was so good that I felt I could be bendable on this matter.

Although I hadn’t *quite* thought this one through: tiny dogs with three inch legs aren’t much suited to parties with milling groups of people – too much danger of being squished, so I carried her for the duration, hence the paucity of LLG-taken photos. It’s quite hard to snap away with several pounds of upside down and somnolent wire-haired Dachshund clasped to one’s bosom.

The event was promoting The Dog Walk – a  digital collaboration showcasing  Ralph Lauren accessories in collaboration with the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Through the use of 3-D imaging, a lovely little film stars rescue dogs along with  pieces from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2013 Accessories Collection. Each dog and its chic walker is outfitted in Ralph Lauren accessories as they leisurely stroll through iconic streets from New York City to Paris and past signature Ralph Lauren stores such as RRL on Bleecker Street and the flagship store on Avenue St. Germain. (I felt very homesick for Manhattan when they breezed down Bleecker, as I used to live a block away)

From October 15 through November 15, Ralph Lauren will donate 10 percent of the sales of select merchandise featured in The Dog Walk to benefit Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The Ralph Lauren accessories featured in the video can be purchased at select Ralph Lauren stores and

Posetta was absolutely exhausted by all her socialising, and promptly collapsed in the car on the way home. (I didn’t like to tell her that a tiny piece of my heart was stolen by a ten week old Blue Whippet puppy called Rita.)

There was however an element of perking up when she realised that the going home bags contained Ralph Lauren-ribbon-wrapped dog treats…

This is fascinating. I loved the behind the scenes insight as much as the finished product. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, that exhausted dog picture is so adorable. If only there had been a chaise longue for her to recline on…

@Jo: Don’t go giving her any ideas! LLGxx

That is clearly a side-eye of “How do you do this? I’m exhausted!”

@mira: Poor old P Bad: she’s eleven now, so I think it’s all getting to her! LLGxx
