I have been thinking about these boots far more than is good for someone who had a life and a business to run. It’s not often that I decide I simply MUST have something: I’m not a logo lover, or an aspirational shopper; I just like what I like.
But there is something about these grey Toga Pulla boots that makes everything I own feel more modern, more…right.
So, late one night, just before London Fashion Week started, I clicked ‘buy’ on Netaporter…(the grey is exclusive to the site.) Designed by former costume designer and stylist, Yasuko Furuta of Japanese label Toga, her footwear line Toga Pulla launched a year ago for AW12/13 to complement her Toga Pulla diffusion line, and combines elements of contemporary Western style with traditional Japanese design.
Since launch I have wanted pretty much all of them: I covet the buckle boots in black too. Only thing is — they aren’t exactly a budget buy at around £325.
So I’ve done some digging around, and here in this hand dandy slide show are some more Toga Pullas in other colour ways and some alternatives somewhat lower down the price scale from Underground, Kurt Geiger etc.
(Sorry I can’t show prices: the badly coded Reward Style app continue to show inaccurate pricing and they show zero urgency towards fixing this issue. Grrrrr and GRRRR again. )
