It’s not often I get to prance around a festival looking like something other than hauled through a hedge backwards, so HALLELUJAH for the Smashbox UK team and their frankly genius idea to pitch a tent in the middle of a field at Wilderness, and invite the public in for make up masterclasses. Although, granted, I was there as Smashbox kindly invited Rachel and me to spend the weekend hanging out at Wilderness, along with a small group of beauty editors.
And the delectable Jackie Dixon (in white below) was there too as Smashbox’s festival photographer.
On Saturday morning Rachel and I pitched up for one of the masterclasses. (After an evening of dancing along to Empire of the Sun the night before, we rejoiced at the sight of the comfy floor cushions.)
Rachel got roped in as the left hand guinea pig below, with Smashbox make up artist Janine Bird, whilst Emma White Turle got to grips with the model on the right.
Janine demonstrated tightlining, where the eyeliner is applied with a brush right at the base of the lashes, underneath into the water line, which makes lashes look longer and fuller.
Both Rachel and Janine were completely coincidentally wearing the same skirt over which I lust, this one from All Saints.)
Here’s Rachel in her final festival ready look. Which Janine managed in about twenty minutes. Incredible. Rachel’s wonderful complexion was helped along by the new Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer.
There were stands throughout the tents, so that after each masterclass participants could play with the make up themselves
After the masterclass was over, divine Emma White Turle let loose on my face. (My request was GIVE ME GLITTER. As usually, I think we can agree I am the least glittery makeup person in the universe.)
oh and then later that evening, as we were heading to the Masquerade Revels, Emma ramped up the glitter:
HUGE thanks to the incredible MK, Sally & Brona at Smashbox UK, and to makeup artists extraordinaire Janine Bird and Emma White Turle for making us so glittery!
