After years of only wearing one lip colour (Bobbi Brown’s Uber Nude), two years ago I found a coral lipstick discarded by my mama, and had a revelation: orange and coral lipsticks look great on pale blondes. I can’t wear true reds, or any red that has a blue tone in it, because it clashes horribly with both my rosacea and with my underlying skin tone.
So after months of allegiance to MAC’s Neon Orange, (still my signature colour) I branched out to slightly more pink-prange colours. This CHANEL lipstick from their Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour collection is the perfect shade to wear in the sun with a slight tan. It doesn’t look too done for lazy summer days, but adds a welcome burst of colour to a slightly under made up face.
It also works very nicely if you have gone heavy on the eye makeup, as it doesn’t fight for attention. There’s a lovely velvet-y texture to it too, as you may have guessed from the name. It isn’t the longest lasting of lipsticks, which was a surprise, as matt colours tend to stick like glue, but that’s no bad thing as it keeps lips nicely moisturised.
