I don’t know what has got into me – I loathe shopping and rarely find anything that fits my non-fashion shape (bosoms, basically), or into the retailers – I keep finding great dresses that have sleeves, aren’t too hey look at my boobs/knickers/etc, and aren’t cripplingly expensive. (This one was £99)
And look: there is now COLOUR in my closet.
I had a couple of hours to spare last week, between a studio visit in Dalston with accessories designers Chris & Tibor to check out their excellent Golden Lane resort collection, and meeting my lovely friend Sogole for dinner on the roof of Shoreditch House.
There was fitful sunshine, but I had left my sunglasses at home, so I stayed on the bus a few stops longer until I reached Spitalfields Market to hunt some out. And somehow, no idea how, I found myself in Whistles buying, oops, four new dresses.
The dress code for the Longines Global Champions Tour Showjumping in Monaco at the weekend was cocktail, and I didn’t have anything suitable that ticked all the sultry weather/chic/south of France boxes. (I’ve put on a few pounds since last summer.)
This Whistles Daria Silk Dress was perfect for the Friday night event (although I did add two coats of St Tropez before wearing it.) It also looks great with the Whistles French 75 Suede Stilettos in neon yellow that I bought back in February for London Fashion Week, and that I just happened to be wearing when I was trying the dress on in store.
