I get through boxes and boxes of writing paper every year. Whilst I have a towering pile of blue Smythson boxes, my correspondence cards are engraved with my full name, and are not suitable for work purposes. So each time I go to New York, I head to Paper Presentation on West 18th for supplies.
(Whilst I am waiting to get my new LLG logo sorted, I am just using plain cream cards, A4 cream thick laid paper, and matching envelopes, for all my thank you letters and general correspondence. I get through piles of the stuff. Which is how I managed to drop $75 on the supplies above on my most recent visit.)
You can get 25 nicely heavy cards for about $7.95, and at the rate I get through them this is keenly competitive.
But it’s not just plain stationery that you can buy here. Whether it’s greetings cards, a fountain pen, ink stamps, sealing wax & stamps, wedding printing, tissue paper, mailing supplies, pre-printed invitations for almost any event you cld imagine, notebooks, correspondence cards, or wrapping paper, you can find it in the long aisles. It’s like a much more comprehensive, much more affordable, less chi chi version of Paperchase in the UK.
Whatever shape, colour, weight or size of plain paper, then I can guarantee PP has it waiting for you.
These aisles are my particular stationery crack:
Be warned, you can spend hours in here. I usually do.
The store is on one of the horizontal streets running across Manhattan. It’s about a five minute brisk walk due west from the top end of Union Square, and another brisk ten minutes from Madison Square Park. (You could combine with a visit to the outdoor branch of Shake Shack in the park)

I love this place too – though I usually combine it with a trip to City Bakery for hot chocolate!
I just adore stationery and ink. Used to use a fountain pen and Quink when in boarding school.
It looks heavenly, I keep re-reading this post & looking at the photos.
This sounds great. I used to LOVE Paperchase but it’s too fussy these days.
