Last night I got dressed up and headed to the global premiere of Breaking Dawn 2 here in Los Angeles. (I was given tickets through my agent – thank you, lovely, who was in town because one of the stars  (begins with R, ends with B) of the movie is also a Curtis Brown client.) I ended up wearing Suzannah, and carrying this fabulous Charlotte Olympia box clutch.

I’m still here in Los Angeles because I stayed on to take meetings after my press trip with Citizens of Humanity finished last week, and yesterday I popped into the LA office of La Chambre PR to meet with the charming Sahar, publicist extraordinaire, and West Coast rep for Elie Saab, Moschino, Joe’s, Charlotte Olympia and more of my favourite houses.

I got a sneak peek of Dakota Fanning’s beautiful teal and lace Elie Saab couture gown for the Breaking Dawn 2 premiere – which I had last seen in Paris on the runway, and then we got down to business flicking through her clients’ rails. That’s when Sahar suggested I might like to borrow a purse for the evening’s premiere from either Edie Parker or Charlotte Olympia.

Because I pack like an idiot – usually in the middle of the night, 2 or 3 hours before my car to the airport is due, I had failed to bring an evening bag to LA  – along with most of my make up, and at that point I was looking at stashing my car key in my bra, so this suggestion seemed heaven-sent.

Given that I was wearing the navy satin dress Suzannah made me for the 2012 Oliviers, I ended up carrying Charlotte Olympia’s signature Pandora Perspex clutch box, with its intricate enamel and crystal spider clasp, and a bespoke navy satin insert. I thought it appropriate for a Vampire movie.

My other option for the premiere was this pretty silver acrylic glitter box by Edie Parker, with its handy mirror inside – I um-ed and ah-ed for a while over which one to carry. After all, given that vampires – in the Twilight world – go glittery in the sunshine, the Edie Parker seemed particularly apt, but in the end, I decided to go with the Charlotte Olympia.

Pretty much everything Charlotte Olympia makes is completely swoon-worthy. She is one of the very few people who makes shoes that are delighfully original, yet also completely wearable. Plus, they manage to pull of the whole super-high platform look, without looking like bedazzled stripper heels. Edie Parker clutches are stunning as well: I love how deco a lot of them look.
