I agree with you on the vegetarian food on airlines. It is not just post recession. I flew on North west once (a very long time ago) and the breakfast for everyone else was a chocolate muffin, a cheese roll and a banana. My breakfast was a banana. On a paper plate. Covered in clingfilm. When I queried it I was told off in no uncertain terms for having ordered a vegetarian breakfast and not offered anything other than the rather lonely banana. Never again…

Virgin Atlantic Upperclass is my favorite too! A NYC-er myself and currently living in London I fly back often. The lounge at Heathrow is amazing with a great buffet and the longest bar I’ve ever seen. I always go straight to the lounge and skip even duty free shopping!

@Tien: I've also flown Malaysia a couple of times (though in cattle, unfortunately) and have thought them wonderful. LLG: any idea where Catherine's divine leopard pumps are from?!
