A week or so ago, a friend emailed to ask if I had heard about Tatler Alan. Frankly, I was confused. From what I remembered of my days at Vogue House, men on the Third Floor were rarely objects of interest, - well, apart from Ben Fogle, who was a Tatler picture editor back in the day before he went all nature/TV crazy. Anyway, a link duly appeared and all became clear.
Tatler did indeed have a new guy in town. Alan, the Long Haired Miniature Dachshund, whose Twitter feed — Tatler Alan — is a thing of genius. (The photo of Alan beetling across the office floor, dressed as the Fat Controller for Halloween, & captioned Choo Choo Biatches had us on the floor howling with laughter).
Clearly Alan was a Dog of the Day in waiting. So I emailed his biatch, Tatler’s Events Manager, Jennifer George, and requested an audience. We were in luck: Not only did Alan deign to be shot for DotD, but he sent in this dispatch for LLG readers:
As Office Manager at Tatler, my job is to both keep everyone in line and the office tidy. Most of my day is spent sleeping though, which I get away with because I’m SO freaking CUTE. It’s a pretty sweet deal. My Mum also works here and cleans up after me, feeds me and even CARRIES me to work– she’s my slave, basically.
(Recently she left me for two nights and I pretended not to know who she was when she came back. So I doubt she’ll be abandoning me again any time soon. Sucker.)
My hobbies are being adorable, biting, and tweeting. I mainly tweet about how adorable I am, oh and life in the Tatler office. One day I’d like to be as big as Stephen Fry (on Twitter, not in real life size. That would be terrifying).
(Alan practicing his biting.)
I also can’t get enough of chicken: chicken and biscuit, cold chicken, hot chicken, chicken off of someone else’s plate…. I’m not allowed alcohol yet but just feel in my tiny bones that me and Champagne would get along very well.
I’m still learning a lot about the magazine world: beauty, society, fashion, etc. The season I’m lucky that fur is on trend because that’s what I’ll mainly be wearing. I’d love a posh jacket for Christmas too, maybe wax or tweed– what would get the girls on-side do you think? (Annoyingly I was NFI-ed to Tatler’s Little Black Book party, but probably because I’m SO cute that no one else would get a look in…)
If you would like to see more of Alan, the rest of his shoot is up on the LLG Facebook.
