I first got to know illustrator Clym Evernden when I commissioned him to cover the shows for an external project I was managing at LFW a couple of seasons ago. So I was very happy to bump into him at Zoe Jordan’s show on the first day of LFW. He mentioned he was doing some work with Nicole Farhi on their SS13 collection, and I mentioned that if he had any overs I’d love to run them here on LLG. So imagine my glee when he sent over these illustrations this evening.
Here’s Clym on the event: “I was very excited to be invited to illustrate backstage and pre-show at the Nicole Farhi SS 13 womenswear show at RIBA, Portland Place. I got to capture the more intimate and less public side to a fashion show all within the incredibly beautiful RIBA building. The atmosphere of focus and concentration backstage at the show was electric and I think added a spark of life to my illustrations. Each model had about 2 or 3 people working intensively on their hair, face, nails etc. all trying to complete their tasks within a certain ever diminishing time period before the start of the show. I really enjoyed illustrating not only models but other people such as photographers and make-up artists, making the compositions more unusual and eclectic than a regular catwalk style fashion illustrations.
