The Daily Beauty: Christian Dior Vernis Nail Lacquer in Lucky 659

Today’s excellent nail polish is Christian Dior’s Vernis’ Nail Lacquer in Lucky 659. It’s been on for ten days and not a chip to be seen.  Still absolutely immaculate. I posted a photo on Twitter last night of my feet — long story — and the response wasn’t quite what I thought it would be. Instead of asking about my shoes, most people just wanted to know the colour or brand of my nail polish. So here it is. I took the photo on Monday night at Ashdown Park Hotel, whilst I was wearing my beloved Nicholas Kirkwood party shoes.

I pretty much only wear pinks or coral in the summer, as it’s the only time my feet aren’t morgue-white… Still, I’m really impressed with the quality, as my nails look as good as new, and last time after two and a half weeks they remained chip-free.

‘the response wasn’t quite what I thought it would be…..’ what did you expect exactly? Your feet are interesting and people must ask about them??

@ta: wow. You’re a piece of work, aren’t you? My tweet had been about high heels, restaurants & walking, & nothing to do with feet per se or with nail varnish.

Now: do me a favour & bugger off

I’m curious, LLG. Do you think the quality of the nail polish matters more or the skill of the manicurist? I’m always wondering because I’ve had cheapie nail polishes which lasted ages and expensive ones which chipped after a few days – and vice versa. But the difference always seems to be the nail bar I went to…

@Sara: I pretty much always go to the same nail bar, so I can’t make a definitive comment one way or t’other. I’m pretty hard on my feet so varnishes do need to be hard wearing for me. But I do think that a good salon probably does make all the difference. LLGxx

@LLG: For me it depends on the quality of the top coat. I have a Sally Hansen 10 day top coat which is amazing. It keeps all my polishes, both cheap and expensive, chip-free for days!

well that’s handy to know. I tend to favour Chanel, but I have to say, it does chip easily.

Might be time for a change. I’m waiting to see what will be available from aerin lauder’s range first though, am just itching to get my paws on it.

I love this colour, it seems to be one that wouldn’t clash with other reds?

@Helena Halme: I do think it works with red well. And a good all year round colour too. LLGxx

Forget the nail polish, those shoes are stunning, but just checked out the price range and nearly fell off my chair :)

@Violet&Rose: Yup, not cheap. (I’m afraid I bought mine in the sample sale.) LLGxx
