I’m off to Glasgow with my friends at Swarovski on Monday for a whistlestop visit to attend the 2012 Scottish Fashion Awards.  (Swarovski are a sponsor.) I wish it were longer, as I have a long overdue appointment with blogging royalty, but unfortunately for that plan, I have to be back in London and on an 1131 Eurostar on Tuesday morning. But I am thrilled to be going even for a day: there is so much extraordinary talent north of the border which sometimes gets drowned out in the media clamor emanating from London.

Of course when there is an awards ceremony with its attendant red carpet and all those shenanigans in the offing, there is the eternal question of what on EARTH to wear. I don’t particularly subscribe to the credo that says you can’t wear an outfit more than once if you will be photographed in it, but it is nice to have some variety – for me and for the blog, and also to support designers I like.

On Wednesday I I had an appointment at Temperley World, their sprawling mews HQ in Notting Hill, to pull some pieces for the Easy Living shoot the next day.

It’s easy to get distracted: they have all the collections and show accessories dispplayed in a series of beautiful rooms.

There are elegant brides trying on ravishing wedding dresses, and other editors on appointments. It’s a glorious hub bub of fashion-minded people.

And it’s hard not to start ordering clothes. This blouse is a case in point.

I was there to pull from the pre-fall collection. That’s because I am a UK 14/US 10, so I can;t borrow standard samples. But joyfully for me, Temperley had the actual stock for pre-fall, so could lend me my sizes. But the very first thing I saw was this dress, and all thoughts of shoot clothes flew out of my head. Could I possibly borrow for the Scottish Fashion Awards, I asked tentatively?

Yes! Came the answer, & with it a fabulous tailored tux – the weather in Glasgow is not known for its tropical warmth. So, that’s my outfit sorted with ease. I’ll be hoofing it to the Swarovski dressing suite at the Blytheswood Square Hotel, where I am staying, to pick out some sparkly pieces to wear with it too. I guess the only decision left is which pair of shoes to wear?

I’ll be attending the Scottish Fashion Awards courtesy of Swarovski’s International Red Carpet Calendar which includes The Golden Globes, The Oscars, Cannes Film Festival and The Scottish Fashion Awards. I’ll be live Tweeting the awards on behalf of Swarovski, and conducting some filmed sit-down interviews with the designers, judges and personalities attending the awards.

I love the facade of Temperley’s building! Is it a permanent colour or just done for the Jubilee? I also love the outfit, by the way!

I’ll probably see you there as I’ve got a media pass for my blog. Gorgeous dress by the way. I think I’ll be wearing Bebaroque. xx

I was working the awards tonight as one of the pink hostesses and I did see you but never got the chance to tell you how much I admire your work. You looked goregous on the night and I hope you enjoy the afterparty as well as all the Swarovski crystals – did you see them scattered over the dining tables??
