When the Lancôme press office sent through the charming drawings (below) by London designer Georgia Hardinge to celebrate this year’s Diamond Jubilee, it reminded me that I had seen this rather wonderful Coronation fragrance advertisement by Lancôme in my 1953 Coronation copy of British Vogue.

Sixty years later, it’s skincare not fragrance that is the focus, but the crown motif remains. So. Georgia will hand-paint each Visionnaire with the ‘Lancôme Sceptre’ and each Génifique with the ‘Lancôme Crown’, whilst the outer boxes feature one of her four fashion drawings of Union Jack dresses and comical Corgis.

(And on both 31st May and 7th June from 18.00 to 21.30 in Selfridges Oxford Street, Georgia Hardinge will be personalizing the designer bottles by hand-painting them with customers names, as part of Selfridges’ Big British Bang event.)
