Picture of the Day: 1980s phone action

1980s mobile phone

I’ve been emptying out a storage container in Banbury, where I stashed a bunch of random trunks, boxes and bags in the aftermath of our family home being sold last summer, whilst I decided what to do with it all. Amongst the stuff was a battered old Cult Clothing carrier bag, filled with papers. They turned out to be a set of British Ws from 1988, (once upon a time it was a colour broadsheet newspaper here in the UK), and a few Sunday Times colour supplements. That’s where I found this genius ad from 1988 for what was then an astonishing novelty: a mobile phone.

Wow, a cellular phone – amazing how in those days we used to find random raves in the middle of nowhere without one!

I’m more excited at the mention of Cult Clothing. I bought ALL my clothes there (in Cheltenham) when I was a teenager! Loved it.
