As I wandered into Uniqlo yesterday, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing: the beloved Laura Ashley print from my childhood needlework box on a T shirt!
Uniqlo have launched lots of different collaborations, from J+ Jil Sander to Hello Kitty, but this has to be my favourite so far, tapping into both this summer’s major floral trend, and a particular brand of British nostalgia. And the amount of comments I got on both Instagram & Twitter last night when I posted the photo above from people who had their bedroom decorated in this print was amazing.
We were no different — the house in which I grew up was a riot of Laura Ashley, from Cottage Sprig in pink ( anyone else remember that pattern?) in my bedroom & on all my bedlinen, to a marine theme in the bathroom, and a wonderful cream & green lily print chintz in the drawing room. (My mother still has an armchair upholstered in it.)
There are lots of prints in the collaboration — all T shirts, at around he £15 mark. Wonderful value, and a lovely nod to the UK’s wonderful textile and print heritage.
Do take a look — they are all available on-line here

Oh yes, oh yes… I’ve been thinking which shall I get and cannot decide yet!
Oh I had the tiny rose/trellis wallpaper! How gorgeous are those tees?
I remember this pattern really really distinctly..! Can’t remember exactly what from though. Incredibly tempted to get one…
That *is* a fond memory. In my office I have a Laura Ashley home decorating book, circa 1982, that’s full of little fabric samples from my visits to her stores. Loved those tiny rosebuds.
