Last night I headed to Symons Street, just off Sloane Square, for the opening of the Kate Spade Chelsea store. I took Brigitte, my best friend from New York who, like me has relocated back to London. Although we are both happy to be in England, we do get miserably homesick for Manhattan, so she was the perfect companion for a party to celebrate a brand that so closely allies itself with New York.
So imagine our joy when we caught sight of the yellow cab parked outside. Incongruous, yes, but also kind of amazing.
The store is a jewel box of loveliness, and my magpie eye was drawn immediately to the costume jewellery. It’s not cheap (these two pieces are around the £200–250 mark, but oh I want, I want.
The shop fittings are just as delightfully sparkly too.
We left with a Kate Spade flower each in our hair, and a swing in our step. Nice to have a little piece of New York in London.

Wow, this looks like fabulous fun. I can imagine the joy at seeing a yellow cab. Although I am surprised at how you managed to resist the necklace on the left. That is a STUNNING piece of jewellery. I want too.
