Last winter in New York I posted my directions for a very simple version of pomegranate Bircher muesli.Above is how I change it up for summer: with strawberries, raspberries & blueberries.

I commented then on how pleased I was to find ground flaxseed in the US, not realising that you could now buy it in the UK. So when I cam back to London, I experimented with these two varieties of milled seeds, which I saw in Holland & Barrett. They aren’t particularly cheap – around a fiver a packet, but they last forever. (You need to remember that whilst healthy, eaten in in quantity they are quite calorific.)

I think they are great: adding a bit more nutritional value to my daily breakfast, as well as a pleasant nutty flavour and texture.
