LK Bennett Maine Beige
This winter I am obsessed by wedge hiking boots. I’ve looked and looked and finally I think I’ve found what I want. I did a digest of great wedges here on LLG, but none of them are quite what I was looking for. My main problem is that I have these sticky legs so any thing too clumpy looks utterly ridiculous on me.

I went to Harvey Nichols’ great shoe salon in Knightsbridge, and tried on this seasons’ key tan Chloe wedge ones (they are in the HN shop  windows) but they didn’t fit, and the great GAP Pierre Hardy ones have open toes, which when I tried them on, just looked odd on me.

And then I spotted these in LK Bennett. In the past I have found their shoes a bit too office-y for me, but this season they seem much more fashion forward. I like these wedges because they are light enough not to make my legs look like toothpicks in contrast.

(Although I was looking for something more clumpy, I’ve been here before.  When I went off to Austria to work for Swarovski some years ago, I longed for Belstaff motorbike boots to clump through the snow, but they looked bloody stupid on me, and I ended up with a lightweight LK Bennett version which I loved and wore for years.)

Problem is how on EARTH do I decide whether to buy the black or the beige?

Because I tend to think about the more profound things in life, I have given the “black vs. other color” question deep thought over the years. As a result of my research, I would get the beige. Even though black seems more sensible, I find that I hardly ever wear my black shoes. Although the black version of this boot will look better with black tights, beige footwear looks really chic with gray and charcoal tights (and Wolford do lovely charcoals). I reckon the beige will look better with pants and jeans of all colors, including and perhaps especially, black. Yeah, I’m on Team Beige.

Also, the beige will look cooler and more hip than the safer and dressier black, imo.

ooh I love these, personally i’d buy them in black because i’m a messy tyke and the gorgeous cream ones would be a wreck in no time. Red mag have a 20% off voucher for LKB in their latest issue so you could buy both?! Now
I’m now torn between these and the jaeger wedge boot decisions decisions………..

Go for the beige! I got the sand Clarks wedge desert boots and I am living in them. They look great with cable knits and they even make higher hems more work appropriate. I really like these though and LK Bennet is a shop I would never go into.

Hahaha hilarious question! Both. 🙂

Oh dear tough choice, they’re both lovely! I say since you’ve had such a rough time of it this year, buy both! Although I’m leaning towards the beige as they seem to show the detailing better — but keep in mind nothing stays that nice around my little Punk Glam Princess, the messiest kid around! I also recall you mentioning that you’ll be in your beloved NY around Xmas? I hope you do make it, and if so, please give a shout! I know you’re very busy but would love to take you for a drink be it coffee or something stronger!

Get both. Use spray protector before wearing. I’m looking for leather with lamb-like insides, preferably heeled and slight platform, any ideas?
