Four years ago this ravishing private garden in south London was a car park. Now it is the perfect English garden, and on Sunday 13th June, it is being opened to the public as a one-off to raise funds for COMBAT STRESS, who do extraordinary work helping returning soldiers from Afghanistan.
Of course, as at any good English garden day, there will be tea & cakes and children’s games. Harpist Bethan Myfanwy Hughes will be playing and there will also be a saxophonist.
There will be lots of plants & hanging baskets on sale, along with textiles and embroidered fabrics.
In aid of COMBAT STRESS. www.combatstress.org.uk
Donations on entrance (children free)
3-30pm to 7-30pm. Visitors welcome at any point during the afternoon.
The Turret House, 3 Killieser Avenue, London SW2 4NU
(Please use the garden entrance, next to 1 Criffel Ave, London SW2 4AY)

Thank you for mentioning this…alas, I am in DC but there are plenty of gardens to visit. As one on disability for PTSD acquired through civil conflict violence abroad (don’t you just love that phrase? That’s what is says on “my papers”), I can attest to the absolute must of greenery, flowers, & such. Water gazing & swimming are also immensely helpful. As my youngest sibling just returned home from Afghanistan, I appreciate very much the posting you’ve done.

@susan Goodness, I hadn’t realised that was why you were ill. And I agree completely, gardens are so important. LLGxx
A brilliant and beautiful idea.
@enc isn’t it just? So generous of her, LLGxx
