LLG is in Madrid

Mango prep

I arrived in Madrid on Sunday afternoon after a red eye flight on Air Europa from New York´s JFK.

There have definitely been more delightful flying experiences, and having a recurrence of my chest disease (chronic, non life-threatening) meant things weren´t ideal on the breathing front, but there is nothing like a an attractive Spanish woman holding a board with your name on at Arrivals, with a car waiting beyond, to lift the spirits.

Which stayed raised as I luxuriated in my huge room at the Madrid Hotel InterContinental with its Frette sheets, Elemis potions and deep baths.

The reason for the trip? Mango have kindly flown me out as the only US/UK blogger to attend their autumn/winter 2010 fashion show on Wednesday here in the city, alongside fellow editors & assorted shiny people.

Álthough I´ve spent vast tracts of time in Spain, from reviewing hotels in Barcelona for Conde Nast Traveller, and sand & paella holidays when my grandmother lived in Nerja on the Southern coast to photo shoots in Mallorca. and more, erm, energetic summers in Ibiza, this is my first visit to the capital city,  so Mango kindly let me extend my flights so that I could do some exploring before the festivities kick off in 48hrs.

 So, tomorrow: The Prado.

Have a lovely time in Madrid, LLG! I was there last spring and the Prado was one of the highlights of the city.

Well, now, that sounds like just the ticket (non-airline!) to ease the recent upset.

Sientete como en tu casa, LLG!

Oh you Europeans. I’m so jealous of your easy access to so many countries. Growing up in Australia, the best it got was a caravan park at Coffs Harbour.

Oh, I love Madrid, esp. the Prado!
And everyone walks in the evening before dinner–such a lovely custom. Have fun and feel better soon!
