Three pieces I’m packing for America for my autumn 2010 wardrobe. First: a classic 1960s Jaeger skirt from my great aunt Joan’s wardrobe, which I wore in my twenties, and blissfully fits me again after my bout of gastro.

Perfect floppy brown felt hat.

My mother’s black leather Coach handbag from the late 80s, which I’m susing now. It’s perfect – goes with everything.

Well done on these finds!

Wow, that hat and skirt will go so well together, especially with a pair of long tan boots. Very New-York-in-the-autumn! The only things in my parents’ ‘attic’ (or storage cupboard to be more accurate) are old Thomas the Tank Engine toys and scratchy old towels, not nearly so exciting.

Fantastic – I wish I had a family attic like yours. We have a cupboard full of old school books and tat!

That attic of yours is a magic place- so many wonderful finds. Love all those things. Lucky for you your relations kept everything.

And…lucky for you they had great taste. Not sure that I’d want anything of my mother’s, or clothing of my grandmothers…but do wonder what happened to all her croc bags and shoes?

I love everything! Especially that hat; it’s very Grey Gardens.

Looking at these pictures makes me want to invest in quality garments so in 20 years time my kids are equally excited about their vintage finds.
