One of the things I love about blogging are the numerous emails I receive every day from readers. Lots of them ask me questions, about all manner of interesting stuff that I am involved or interested in from fashion editing to dachshunds. So I thought I’d throw myself open to your questions on the blog itself for a change
If you have a question you’d like ask me, just leave it in the comments box below. I’m not promising that I will answer them all, but I will pick a fair chunk of them and answer them on the blog over the next few weeks.

i was just curious as to how you ended up in the fashion industry as a journalist. what would you recommend for a budding journalist inorder to break it in the bussiness? thank you for (maybe) answering my question!!!
ooh what a good idea! I wanted to know why you moved to New York from London.
thank you. Susie
I would like to know what advice you would give to people who want to become writers — how to start and get a food in the door.
I would like to know what brand are Lisa Edelstein’s clothes in the wonderful House, MD TV series? She plays Dr Cuddy and wears these very ladylike clothes, although sometimes they are too tight. I can’t find this info anywhere.
I so enjoy your blog! And your mother’s blog, too! Here is a link to a puppet Christmas video created and shot in Brooklyn, NY–created by a very close relative of mine. You may even recognize some of the participants. Hope you enjoy it.
Merry Christmas!

How do you cope (if it ever occurs) with mental blocks for your writing..?
What do you think about The September Issue movie ?
Oh boy, I can’t wait to see where this goes!
LLG — not a fashion query but beauty and will probably sound sadly sychophantic but you have such lovely skin! Do share your secrets (apart from genetic blessing of course!)
This is a bit of a random question but no one seems able to help me… I wear glasses and if I wash my hair & don’t dry it properly, sometimes the water/conditioner splashes onto my glasses & if I don’t dry it immediately, I’m left with a really annoying stain that I can’t remove. I can’t afford to buy new glasses at the moment so I was wondering if you could suggest anything. I’ve tried window cleaner, the glasses cleaner you buy in Boots & isoprop.
I live in France and am the same size as your lovely Ma was, having seen some of her clothes on ebay (excellent taste). I’m a 16. Therefore, I find it reallly hard to buy clothes here, and have to mail order from the UK, which can be hit and miss, and expensive with the returns, as I’m sure you’ve found out, living in the US. I’m coming to London this week for a 2 day blitz and at the age of 41 have realised that fashiony stuff just isn’t me anymore. I just want good jeans that fit, well cut wide legged trousers, and a bunch of sweaters that will last. Question: do you recommend Brora/would you wear their sweaters yourself, and who would you recommend for well cut, casual, every day wide-legged trousers in the £100-£150 mark?
Loving the recipes by the way, and looking forward to the book.
Yours hopefully.…
Jo
Hi LLG! So what motivates you to maintain this blog and drives what you post? Do you have a short/long term vision for this blog and if so what are they?
Did you used to have your hair done in Fenwicks when you worked at Vogue House (my husband who worked there thinks he may recognise the outside of you!)
Amanda
WHO ARE YOU? Ok, ok, I know that’s not allowed…
Sorry if this question is a little presumptuous: Why are you so ambitious? Where does the drive come from? What belief system did it grow out of?
I ask as a person who is usually way too absorbed with questions of life and death to be bothered with ambition (I’m in academia– that’s about as far as my desire for world domination could take me).
I’d also like to know how you feel about your writing. Do you ever have serious crises of confidence and think that the world does not need to read a book written by you?
(Another question that I am quite intimate with!)
Finally: London or New York?
Oh god, I sound so pretentious and high-handed the way I stated my question!! Ugh! What I meant was that I’m too nihilistic to be ambitious (in the career-oriented sense).
That’s a good segue for another question I have for you– do you ever read your stuff later and think, “UGH! I’m a MORON”?!
This is very mundane but perfect timing because I’ve been searching your blog for the name of that wonderful hostel near Santa Barbara that you recommended last summer? I remember lovely blue and white curtains?? Thank you!
though i’ve been blogging for a while I’m hopeless about contact with companies. Part of me quite likes that but do you always approach companies you blog about and how do you go about it? thanks LLGx
